Here’s our current list of volunteer tasks.

Our first Public Living Room of the year went down well, especially the home-made cake! We’ll be running these on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month until September, from 10.30-12.30.
Following the damage to our raised beds earlier in the year, the first replacement was expertly crafted by volunteers Mike, Mary and Hanspeter, using sleepers donated by the Council.

In readiness for the new raised beds, we’ve had to do a fair bit of preparation. Here, Max and Kes are doing a great job transplanting calendulas and poppies into a temporary bed; they will be moved back once the new beds are constructed.

Trustee and volunteer Cathryn has been using her considerable creative talents to produce some beautiful new signs for the polytunnels. Here is Mike putting one of them into place.
Our first batch of young plants grown from Heritage Seeds have made their way from Sharon’s crowded conservatory into the garden, and are doing well in one of the greenhouses. These are (below, L to R) Tequila Peppers, Szechuan Aubergine and Cucumber Peking China 741. Looking good!

Sharon and Tony C have also planted out most of our heritage tomato plants, along with French marigolds as companion plants, in one of the polytunnels.

May is such a wonderful time in the garden. We are lucky that our Site Supervisor Clancy is an excellent photographer and can capture so many beautiful images for us! Here are just a few of her recent pictures.
