A very hot day for the Plant Swap!

As the days got hotter and hotter towards the end of May, we held our spring Plant Swap and Eco Fair event. The weather definitely affected the attendance, but despite this, we still recorded over 270 visitors during the event, which was fantastic.

A number of local organisations took stands at the event, talking to visitors about wildlife, sustainability and environment issues. We’re very grateful for the support of WEG, PackItIn, Worcestershire Wildlife Trust, the Swan Food Project, RSPB and the Transition Worcester Orchard Workers.

We had lots of plants to swap and purchase, so thank you to everyone who donated plants to us, and to our volunteers for all their hard work sowing, pricking out and potting on to provide plant stocks.

On such a hot day, refreshments were very important (aren’t they always?!) and these were ably provided by Lava Egyptian Street Food and Bears Great Escapes ice cream. A big shout out too to everyone who made delicious cakes and bakes for our café, these went down extremely well, as ever!

Overall, from plant and produce sales, and the café, we took over £700 on the day, a fantastic total which will go back into the garden as we continue to develop it for all to enjoy. Once again, thank you to everyone who contributed in any way to making it such a success.

Willow Weaving Workshop

Another sold-out willow weaving session was held in May, the result being six beautiful willow swallows for our attendees’ gardens!

These ever-popular workshops are run by Jo Sullivan, who offers a range of workshops through her business, Willow with Jo. They always go down really well when we hold them at the garden, so do keep a look out for future dates on our Events page and on our Social Media channels.
