We are so lucky to have Gill Kincaid among our volunteers. Not only is Gill one of our highly valued Site Supervisors, but she also has a wealth of knowledge about natural dyes, and is keen to pass on her expertise to others.
On a hot day towards the end of June, we set up a gazebo in the shade for Gill to run her Natural Dyes workshop. Eight participants braved the weather to learn about some of the plants that can be used to produce natural dyes, and how to extract and use them.
The participants had a great time exploring the colours of woad, weld and coreopsis, each ending up with a beautiful silk scarf to take home. Some of them couldn’t wait to wear them!
Gill was ably assisted on the day by Bob, Sharon and Celia, and our thanks go to all four of them for another successful event!
