You may remember that, back in February, we were dismayed to discover that a mature tree had come down just outside the gates of the Garden, destroying a number of our raised beds and severely damaging several more.
As these beds form our ‘shop window’, enticing visitors to come inside, it was vital that we made plans to replace them. We were delighted to receive a generous grant from the Severn Trent Community Fund, enabling us to buy some replacement raised beds made from robust recycled plastic, which should be hard-wearing and flood-resistant.
Our marvellous volunteers have been very busy this summer constructing the beds and filling them with soil and compost, and this month we have finally been able to start planting. A big thank you to all who have helped in any of these activities, and to Severn Trent Water for making it possible!
