Claire took over as Worcester Community Garden’s website editor and social media lead in 2025, and was appointed a Trustee in 2026. She has had a varied career in various corporate and not-for-profit organisations, in roles whose common theme is finding and providing information for others, including research scientists and the general public.
While much of her early involvement with the Garden was conducted remotely from home, since becoming a Trustee Claire has had more hands-on experience onsite, meeting and getting to know Site Supervisors and volunteers, and helping at events. She is very aware of the sense of community and working collaboratively within the Garden, and feels this is one of its major strengths. “There is always a warm welcome and a friendly smile when you arrive”, she says, “and it’s clear that everyone volunteering there really values the feeling of being part of something worthwhile.”
When she’s not at the Garden, or working on the website, Claire likes to work in her own garden when she can. She is also Social Media Lead for the Arts Society Worcester and an active member of Worcester u3a. Somehow, she has managed to join four book groups since moving to Worcester in 2020, and more or less keeps on top of the reading!
